View Full Version : Proper Blind Defense?

I have been trying recently to work on defending in the blinds, as my blind defense is abysmally low compared to others.

Does this look right?

Stars 2-4

Hero dealt K /images/graemlins/spade.gif Q :club in BB:

6 handed. Folded to Button who raises, SB folds, Hero 3-bets, Button calls.

Flop: T /images/graemlins/spade.gif 4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif
Bet, call.

Turn: T /images/graemlins/heart.gif
Bet, call.

River: 7 /images/graemlins/spade.gif
Check, check.

If on the flop or turn, button raised, I'd call and fold to a bet on next street without improvement.

On the river, I'd fold to a bet.

I would probably play it the same. Would fold on the turn if raised though.

Is this because the odds of me catching a K or Q, combined with the fact that he could be slowplaying a monster or a much better hand, makes my draw -EV?

By the way, he flipped over A4s and took down the pot.

because if he has AA, KK, a 44, 55, or any T, you are drawing dead. And if he raises the turn here, he very well may have one of those hands. That combined with the fact that you are only getting 7-1 on an 8-1 draw would makes this an easy fold to a turn raise.

Because you are getting 6.5:1 on a 7:1 draw, so your outs will only have to be unclean rarely to make it wrong.
If button will call down with A-high postflop, then you probably dont want to 3bet this.
