I think I'm generally a pretty good tournament player, but I haven't had any luck yet at this weekly Saturday game since I started going 4 weeks ago...maybe I have just gotten unlucky the first couple of times I've been there.
Stacks start at 7500.
Blinds schedule is:
25/50
50/100
100/200
250/500
500/1000
1000/2000
2000/4000
Blinds go up every 45 minutes so you have a lot of time to play early on which I like. We get anywhere from 10-18 players on 1 or 2 tables. It's generally a mix of fish, LAGs and a few solid players I would consider tight-aggressive, and maybe 1-2 rocks.
Last week I was crippled when the blinds were 100-200 and someone raised all in (6000 stack) UTG with pocket aces. I called with pocket queens thinking no way he had aces, so there are definetly some pretty questionable plays and I think it throws me off my game.
Any specific strategies for beating this tournament..I'm not starting to feel the blind pressure until 250/500 so I have 2:15 of play before I really have to start making moves, but then again, I'd really like to have a stack by then as it makes things much easier.
