View Full Version : Short stack strategy question

Here's a common situation that I need some help thinking about.

Suppose you have a short stack in the middle stages of a small rebuy NLHE tournament (or PL for that matter); for example, blinds of 100-100 and a stack of 900 or so, with the blinds doubling in a few minutes, and the rebuys over. All night, you have never seen a player limp in and then fold to a raise before the flop. People are still playing weak aces (down to A8 say), any pair, and any two big cards. Although nobody who comes in will pass before the flop, passing on the flop is common.

So the question is, what is your strategy here? How will you attempt to survive/build your stack, in the absence of any big aces or big pairs? And what would you do if you did happen to catch a proper hand?

Cheers,

Guy.
