I mean all of their original series are just gold. Thanks to On Demand, I've watched parts of all of them, and I think, for the most part, they're much better than network series. What do you think of this?
How would you rank the following:
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Deadwood
Family Bonds
Oz
Six Feet Under
The Sopranos
The Wire
Am I missing any?
I've not really seen The Wire, and Family Bonds is new, and just kinda funny, not really a great show.
However, Oz, Sopranos, Cuub, Six Feet Under and Deadwood are just awesome, IMO.

Entourage is pretty good
i dont know if arli$$ is still on but that show sucked big time
I love HBO on demand mostly for the movies, but I think Family Bonds is hilarious.

Arli$$ and "The Mind of the Married Man" say high.
There's a lot of shitty shows that have been on HBO, we just don't remember them.

Wow I missed a lot. Entourage is hysterical, and I like Married Men, as well.
Arli$$...meh

You should really get into their original series this way. It's worked for me. Wait until one of them has their first season or first half of first season on demand and just start watching.

Jeanette Lee was on an episode of that. Given that she's the hottest chick that plays pool decently, Arli$$ was a good show.
If a show wants my approval they need to show a bangable chick in at least one episode.

I just got HBO recently when I moved so I havent tried watching any of the shows since I havent seen the first seasons yet, but since Family Bonds just started I make sure to watch it every week on demand.

I read an article a few years ago - I think in the Economist - that sought to explain why HBO was able to offer quality, edgier TV than the networks. Basically the explanation given was that premium cable needs to convince the customer to re-up every month or six months or whatever, so they need shows that really hook them (truly must-see). They just need one really good show (series or made for HBO movie) for each demographic.
Broadcast on the other hand, delivers a product called the audience to their customers, the advertisers. The price model dictates that that audience be made up of as many people as possible, so they have to offend no-one and at best take an MOR if not low-brow approach.
Course this doesn't explain why HBO does it so much better than Showtime, et al.
