Lost about 50 BB in 1.5 hrs early today....tilted a little, recovered, played through it. What do you do?

Were the players bad?

no one can possibly tell you the answer to this. do whatever you think is best. 50 BB in an hour and a half is nothing

it wasn;t so much what i was losing but how i was losing. I lost to more 4, 2, or 3 outers than i thought possible.

I always have had trouble with stopping early - whether winning or losing - this month, however, I have a set amount of hands to play each day. Its not exactly optimal but I find it helps to have a point where I stop rather than deciding myself.

Then as long as you are playing good poker, it's ok to stay. If you're tired, or playing tilted, or playing against better players - then leave. A down swing alone...that's not necessarily a reason in itself.

Yeah, thats the main reason i played through it. Easy game, just getting rivered nearly every hand.

Welcome to poker.

Its all one long session, and in my session, I am way ahead. If I am running bad today, or this week, it will turn around, and the more I play, the sooner I will get to the part of the session in which I run good.

Then you were in the right spot. If you find yourself getting outplayed consistantly, then you need to quit. If you are just getting outdrawn, then you are in a good game, and you should keep playing.

My plan right now, too. It works for me, also.

It really can blow your mind when so many of those crazy river cards hit. It just seems to defy mathematics. I'm on a similar streak myself. Mine's lasted over a week.

At the peak low, I had guys simultaneously hit 2 outers on the river (multitabling). The following hand I had a 1 outer hit. I also went 31 hands having AK or AQ and not flopping either of my cards.

I ran the odds on some of the lousy cards and it's just mindblowing how bad you can run.

Your decision to continue playing at a table should have nothing to do with whether you are up or down. Continuing to play should be a function of 1) the quality of the game/players 2) your mindset (fatigued vs rested, focussed vs. unfocussed, tilt vs. calm) and 3) your priorities (other commitments, etc.).

Isn't it? I went down 40BB last night - and one of the hands I finally had a flush draw hit my 98/images/graemlins/heart.gif - but on the turn, unfortunately. River was the K/images/graemlins/heart.gif, which made villain's T/images/graemlins/heart.gif the winner.

What can you do but laugh, and hope that you haven't fractured your hand against the top of the desk?

The fun part is when that T /images/graemlins/heart.gif is part of something stupid like T/images/graemlins/heart.gif2/images/graemlins/spade.gif that he coldcalled with.

The best part about losing 50 BB to 2,3, or 4 outers is that within a few hours - those same players will give you back 50 BB whilst drawing dead.

It depends. A 50 BB downswing is fairly meaningless.

you guys are whining about going 50 bb's down in an hour or having a losing week you guys are some big pussies.
you do realize some pros have losing years, right? Tho you guys aren't certainly pros, one bad week or 2 bad weeks is nothing.

I either take a break, or if I want to continue to play I change sites. Personally I've found when I'm going bad at Party I can change to Pacific or Pokerstars and a lot of times the missed flops start hitting.

And we know pros never whine, right?
