Slight variation on a common theme:

I requested a cashout from my POKER acct at Capt Cooks. it has been taking longer for the cashout than I would like it to and in an exchange regarding othere matters, I politely complained. I was informally told that faxing in personal docs would speed this process up. I REALLY don't feel comfortable doing this. They may want driver's license, credit card (front and back) and utility bill.

I don't see much harm in the utility bill. But the DL and CC? I've seen people complain about this before on here, but it is always in regards to casino whoring.

1. So, I wonder, why the static about pulling money from the pokerroom? It's not, nor was it ever, their money.

2. Also, if they formally ask for this, are there steps I can take to help protect me from too much info landing into the wrong hands?

3. How does Captain Cooks justify this need for docs for funds from the pokerroom? They have a vaugue answer saying it is to prevent fraud. Is there a justifiable explanation to this or are they simply trying to disarm the customers into complacency so they think it is for their own good. It has the exact opposite effect on me by worrying about fraud.

I have enjoyed playing there, but the idea of giving up all this personal info scares the bejezees out of me.

Captain Cooks is a Prima based room. Prima is notorious for locking accounts, taking players money, and making you send them your drivers' license, social security number, utility bill, tax returns, and whatever else they can think of just to get your cash out - and even then it may not be enough and they may decide to keep your money on a whim. Prima is listed as a blacklisted room on some message boards. There are so many other places to play that treat their players with respect - there is no reason on the face of the earth to play at a Prima based room.

I second this. I had to send a great deal of documentation to a Prima site, and finally got my money 3 weeks later. But I've heard plenty of horror stories about people not getting their money at all. I stay away from Prima for this reason, and also because I don't think the games are all that great. But jek made a post a few days ago about how Prima is moving up to be one of the largest poker networks around. So there must be something redeeming about them.

I, however, plan to stick with sites I know are juicier and have more confidence in regarding cashouts.

thanks for the replies. I've been away from the net for a few days and couldn't respond.

I did receive my w/drawals from CapCooks yesterday. So all in all, it wasn't terribly slow. It took six days. I would like better, but I didn't have to provide any docs--that was my biggest concern.
