I've heard that there is a warning that you aren't suppose to take more than one energy drink at one sitting because it's too hard on your body.

I'm talking about the Sobe Adrendaline (sp?), Rip It Energy the stuff with Tautarine or what not of 1000 MGs.

I did 3 days with 3 hours of sleep. Then on the ride home after a 16 hour shift at the casino, I took a Sobe and my heart started to hurt a lot.

Last night 3 energy drinks and 2 24-oz Mountain Dews. I'm cutting out the energy drinks and moving down to Mountain Dew.

Can I actually really screw up my body? My mom says I am doing what high blood pressure does to my body and could have a stroke.

Since I have posted an inordinate amount of times today I'll keep my response brief.

Yes, very much so. Your mom is right about the stroke possibilites, not to mention heart attacks at a young age. /images/graemlins/spade.gif

Alot of the anti-energy drink stuff seems kind of shady to me. You have to be carefull because they are very prone to leave out key facts like the kid hadn't slept in three days, was playing football in 103 degree weather, wasn't tested for any other drugs like meth, and so on. I'm not saying energy drinks are good, or bad, it just seems that almost every study I've seen on energy pills and drinks have major holes in them. It's too bad these are the studies the media tends to cling to.

if you are drinking them or caffeine for energy, there is someting wrong with you. I drink roughly two cups of coffee in the morning, and thats about all the caffeine I drink every day.

I agree, you shouldn't depend on energy drinks. Alot of people abuse them. I know guys that took mini-thins to get high every day for about 6 months. If those guys had a stroke, I highly doubt they would tell their parents or the police what they were really doing. I think alot of the studies are bogus and are relaying the wrong message. Not very many drugs you can get ahold of are bad, its how, and in what amounts you use the drug that counts. Alot of studies and media outlets are not preaching this. Instead they are pushing to ban everything, when education is what we really need.

Drinking that much caffiene is horrible, it doesn't matter where it comes from.

Also, humping Mountain Dew cans can be dangerous, you could cut yourself.

its just a part of our society for people to constantly need energy. Seattle is a pretty intense city, with a lot of people running all over the place working a lot of hours, especially with all the tech companies over here. Thats partly why there is literally two Starbucks on every block(there really is). People work so many hours that they need the energy. I am not surprised college kids drink it either, what with all the constant studying and partying they do.

Word - tastes like cough syrup (or Flinstones vitamins) at first, but stick with it.

Overwork, terribly undersleeping, absolute crap getting crammed into your body in huge amounts -- yeah, that's not good.

I have a friend who had a stroke at 45, and a friend whose father died of a heart attack at about 32, and another whose father died of a heart attack at about age 30. That kind of thing really does happen.

By the way, even without abusing your body with the crap you're putting in it, lack of sleep alone can lead to very high blood pressure. Now think about that combined with your high-stress/high-abuse lifestyle, and don't kid yourself about what you already know -- you're playing with fire here. A million guys may do it, but once in a while one of them detaches a retina from high blood pressure or has a stroke. You never know who it's gonna be.

Come hang out in NY...My friends drink this stuff NON-STOP. They always get more ripped than I do. I always just played it safe on the energy side with RedBull + Vodka.

I start feeling a little jittery after about 10 cans of Red Bull.

Craziest energy drink experience I've ever had was when I needed to drive from LA to Portland in one day (17 hours).

I had 4 cans of Red Bull (at intervals), and was on fire for like the first 14 hours. Then, when I got to around Grants Pass, my eyes couldn't focus anymore. I pulled over and tried to take a nap, but I couldn't sleep, either.

So I just rested my eyes for about an hour, and finished up the trip.

I usually have just a large coffee in the morning, and no more caffeine.
