View Full Version : Very thin value bet?

Still 5/10 5 max.

Folded to me and I raise with AhKh. SB coldcalls, and BB calls.

Flop comes 887 twotone (no heart)

Checked to me, I bet, SB folds BB calls.

BB is a very tricky player, he bluffs and semi bluffs a lot, and is also quite loose postflop.

Turn is an offsuit deuce. He check-calls my bet.

River is an offsuit 5.

He checks, I bet and he calls.

Comments?

Did he fold the river a lot? I will push these hands against those types. I really want him to fold, but if he calls with a weaker ace, you get a bonus.

You say he bluffs and semi-bluffs a lot and is loose post-flop. I would guess that he caught very little or nothing of the flop. Again, if he'd lay down bottom pair to your river bet, then it's probably worth a shot.

I'm sure he wouldnt lay that down.

"...but if he calls with a weaker ace, you get a bonus. "

And that was the whole reason why I made the bet.

If my opponent somehow hit the board, then I strongly felt he would have played back at me. I was even worried about my turnbet, because I was likely to get check-raised by hands like 9T or a flushdraw. Now when he just called the turn, I was quite confident he has ace high or less. And it really looked like that he would call down with A high. And obviously I would have the better ace high, so indeed, a nice bonus IMO.
