Can you win by 7, but keep the score under 41? That wins me 4 units and saves my 3+1 week.

I can take 7 and u44, that works for 3+1 and 1.5 units....

E-A-G-L-E-S EAGLES!! There a lot of 3+1 cappers depending on you...

This is a game where I would usually advocate taking Dallas. Inter division rival, home dog on Monday night...Dallas is the play here. Problem is, word out of Dallas is that the Cowboy players have had it with Parcells, especially after his tirade against them last week. Couple this with their lack of talent and it would look like they are in trouble. This is a game to stay far away from. I am really surprised a lot of people think the Eagles are such a strong play here. There were much better games/spots this past week than this one. Inter division home dogs are almost always the way to go in games like this, especially on a Monday night. No way can you say this is a strong play with the Eagles. Because of the situation with Dallas though, this is a game to stay far away from. If you are an action craver and have to bet this game, Dallas and the points would be the play here, IMO. Dont get me wrong, Philly could very easily cover, that is why I would advise to stay away. If Dallas does get blown out here, that is a real good sign they have had it with Parcells. If you cant get up for a Monday night home game against a division rival, then you really are cooked. Also, look for Dallas to lay an egg on Thanksgiving day when they play Chicago.--Big Al--

This is why I went with the Eagles, along with their "after a loss" and "Monday night game" history. Dallas isn't that strong a rushing team- a key problem for the Eagles- and I expect the pass defense/rush to keep Dallas in check.

Both teams rank around the same level statistically and the Eagles have played the tougher teams and the tougher defenses recently.

Besides, I'm only really bad at picking road dogs for big spreads /images/graemlins/mad.gif

Is this an advance Shoe-In announcement? /images/graemlins/grin.gif

BigAl,

I agree with all of the advice you give for tonight's pick - usually it's a game to stay away from, and interdivision home dogs always fare well (hell, even interconference home dogs) in this situation. I even have a few trends that are stacked way against Philly in this situation.

However, living in Philly (clouding my wagering decisions), I'm going to have to back the Eagles STRONG here. They're coming off a loss, there will be 30,000+ Eagles fans down there, T.O.'s returning to big "D" after the "star" incident, Dallas has a terrible, terrible excuse for a football team, Dallas has quit on their coach, especially after he called them stupid, Philly will be looking to quiet their critics with a huge, huge win on national TV.

Again I agree with what you've said and I always follow that logic almost to the letter. Maybe my vision is cloudy because I'm an Eagles fan and watch them every week whistle to whistle, but I seriously think tonight's a blowout of the worst kind. Two dimes on the birds tonight for me!

I was just discussing this with a co-worker - I can see it being something like 31-7. The number I see posted is 42.5, pretty scary number for the game.

Line just moved to 7 at pretty much every sportsbook I can find....I got my 6.5 in at -120 about an hour ago, WHEW! Even tho where I wager (sportsbook.com) it's -105 for the 7, I hate that number....

GOOD LUCK to you!! (And me!) /images/graemlins/grin.gif

Never underestimate an Philly sports team's ability to disappoint its fans in the most torturous manner possible (e.g. losing to god-damned god-awful Dallas).

When they are favored on the road are
PHILADELPHIA is 3-1 against the spread versus DALLAS over the last 3 seasons
3 of 4 games in this series have gone over the total the last 3 seasons. Now add to that the Eagle's are 8-1 on MNF under Andy Reid and an outstanding 13-1 in L14 reg season prime time games.

An interesting trend for anyone in the state of Texas follows....

Cowboys are 18-6 ATS in their last 24 tries as a home dog.

Also note that .350 > Monday night division home dogs, playing off a loss vs. .500 > opponent that is also off a loss, are 7-0 SU & ATS since 1980.

Crazy right? 7-0 since 1980? That SCREAMS Cowboys right?

Nope, 7-1 after tonight /images/graemlins/grin.gif Trends never take into account how good or bad (and in tonight's case, there's extremes, a real good and a real bad) the teams playing are.
