For all you people that only play on stars and use poker tracker, how big of a pain is it to copy and paste the hands out of your e-mail? How long does it take for you? Does this ever discourage you away from stars? THis is the only thing holding me back..

I don't play Stars much, but copy and paste isn't required. You can import into PT from your POP3 account.

I don't copy and paste. I use hotmail and i just save the email as a text file. It will work for yahoo like this as well. but, to copy and paste would not be too much harder.

But still. Isn't it more of a pain, especially knowing that you could be doing it effortlessly on party, without all the hastle of auto ahdn requestion, shifting through the emails, saving all the files, and then importing?

It is a bit of a pain not really a big deal. I have a file stars.txt on my desktop. I request 200 hands every 45 minutes or so and do nothing else. After the session I just cut and past the entire emails into the text file and import it in.

Not really a big pain, harder than Party but I don't play many ring games at Stars anyways.

Parties and PokerStars are the two best for that. Parties might nowadays be easier as it stores hand histories on our own machine, while now there's some extra help too so one sees some stats without opening/looking the notes, and this only at Parties. I play only at PokerStars of these two so can't say for sure, but Parties should be easier.

I've always copied and pasted as I don't really understand this Hack, Snafu and POP that seems to go with some of the sites, I just copy paste and have never had a problem.

If you have a mail account that supports POP3 (that's most anything that's not web-based like hotmail) it's really easy. Just go to "POP3 Email Setup" under the utilities menu and set it up just like it is in your Outlook (assuming you use it). Then periodically request a hand history from stars and once they confirm its been sent, tell PT to check POP3 email.

I don't tell PT to auto request hand histories. This would be a great feature if the confirmation box didn't pop up in Stars and interrupt play.

Takes me about 2 seconds to import my hand histories.

Spend an hour setting up pop3, you won' regret it(even has an autorate feature).

If you already have a POP3 account, it takes 1 minute to set up the first time. Just point PT to your POP3 server and type your login/password and you're done.

But if you need to set up a new account it could take longer.
