Would appreciate some advice on playing this. There had been several times where raises were met with an all-in only to have everyone fold. Lots of limping. Lots of mini-raises. Kind of a weird table.

NL Hold 'em $100 + $9 (Blinds 25/50)
9 Players
Hero (T1155)
UTG+2 (T580)
MP (T485)
Button (T2280)

Hero is in BB (50) and is dealt J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif J /images/graemlins/spade.gif
UTG+2 calls 50
MP raises to 100
Button calls 100
Hero ????

It depends, getting a good flop for JJ is pretty hard. So you can either call and hope for a set or low cards, or you can raise (allin) to steal a pretty nice pot, and you can even double up off someone with a10 or aj.

Lots of times, people will miniraise a limper, just to isolate the blinds (at least making them pay too see the flop).

Any other thoughts on how to play this hand?

I probably just call here and hope for a rag flop (or a J) which I bet pretty heavy. Too easy to get burned w/ JJ. Plus it is early in the tourney and it looks like you are in pretty good shape.

Just the way I see things now.

the mini raise short stacked is awful - the only half reasonable explanation is that this guy has AA or KK and wants callers - the most likely explanation is that he is a chook

i like pushing - i expect to either win without a flop or get heads up with the mini raiser nearly all the time and i'm happy with either result

I'm like 80/20 to push here, and the only reason that I wouldn't is if I had a read on the button or MP had played exactly one hand.
