I play in a tournament every Saturday.
There are a few solid players a few fish but mostly just over aggresive players.
There is a raise preflop 75% of the time which is fine, it's good aggresive tournament strategy, but the raises are most of the time in the range of 10-20 times the big blind with it sometimes being in the range of 30x..just gross overbets of the pot. We start with 150 big blinds on the first level, so this is committing usually around 1/5 of your stack preflop. Some of them are so loose and defensive as to sometimes call an over the top all in of one of their raises with stuff like K7s or QJ so you are usually in a 60-40 race for all your chips unless you have them dominated by chance.
How do you play against this without getting blinded down and playing short stacked?
