Other than possibly AA and KK is it ever correct to open limp on the button when playing short handed holdem?

I would open limp with many medium-strength hands against two very loose/bad players who almost always defend their blinds. I would also sometimes raise with these medium hands for balance so my opponents won't know that I have a premium hand whenever I raise.

One of my favorite plays: The limp BTF blind steal. In fact, against chronic defenders you can "steal" more successfully this way. Now when they check to you on the flop it is usually because they missed and not because they are going to check raise the pre-flop raiser when he auto bets the flop.

You mention limping with the big pairs, which I don't do. But if you only limp with that type hand then observant opponents will catch on.

So limp with a variety of holdings, and then pick up a lot of pots on the flop.
