In Phil's new book Bad Beat's and Lucky Draws. He mentions a book that Henry Hodges wrote - I'm assuming it's old and out of print. Anyone know the title?

I haven't yet read Phil's new book, so I don't know the reference. However, I'm not familiar with a poker book written by a Henry Hodges, and I'm pretty familiar with poker literature as a whole. There is a historian who has written books named Henry Hodges, but I don't think he has written any poker books.

Sorry I couldn't have been more help.

It's mentioned on page 157 of his book. It says the book is about his life story, so it sounds more like an autobiography (which must contain some poker stories). /images/graemlins/cool.gif

It's not much, but I found this quote from Benny Binion using Google:

I never seen but one poker player quit the game with any money when he got old, with a lot of money. He was a fellow they called "Society Red" from Dallas, Texas; name was Henry Hodges. When he got old and seen he's slippin' a little bit he quit. I guess that's about all for that.

Also, the most exhaustive list of older poker books I know of is here. (http://www.holdemsecrets.com/books.htm) There is nothing by Henry, but there are several books by an Albert Hodges.
