These are full 10 handed games.
I'm looking for help in these PT areas as in what they
should look like. I have settled down after blowing 5K this
year thinking I could compete up to 5/10 and even bought in
at 10/20 with 500.00 each time......anyway, back to the
basics. I had computer virus and spyware issues and got all
that fixed with Dell's pay for service tech help, man those
guys are GOOD! So I got PT up and running fine now.
I have been getting my hand histories in Poker Tracker
and have 1500 hands in at 1/2. I will beat 1/2 before going
to 2/4. I can't find a good definition of VP$IP, is it just
any time I bet into the pot???
I'm just slightly in the red at 1/2 but less than 2BB/100.
I would like to adjust these PT stats as I play along, what
is your opinion of that?
Many thanks, d

VPIP is easy: "voluntarily put money in pot". So if you check from the big blind, that doesn't count, but if you complete from the small, it does.

You probably want figures of between 15 and 20 VPIP (some would play looser than this but I wouldn't recommend it) and a PFR of between 7 and 9.

Good luck. Have you tried sorting out the basics of your game in the really micro limits, just to lose less until you get your style figured out?

Thanks jtr.
So, any money, call, bet OR raise, increases the VPIP
by a percentage of hands played? Not the amount of money?
I believe I can beat 1/2. Even though I have'nt yet.
I know I can, and I hate the thought of playing any lower.
Hell, last night I just sat in front of the monitor for
two hours and watched Party 30/60......drooling. /images/graemlins/smile.gif
That's where I wanna be!

You may be approaching this (winning poker) the wrong way. You may want to learn how to play solid, no tilt poker. Poker Tracker is a fine tool especially for record keeping and developing profiles on your opponents, however if you lack the fundamental knowledge to play winning poker it may not be of any help in your quest to become a winning player.

Hi Jim, I see quite a bit of focus on the poker forums on
VPIP and thought I may need to look into all the fuss.
If all the winning players exhibit similar VPIP and
PFR, etc stats, It would seem I need to lean towards
getting mine to that point also. That's kind of my plan
of attack at the moment.
Thanks
