4 handed, 20/40 must move game. I have just sit down, and I dont know any of the players.

Couple of rounds go by, and I pick up Th9h on the button. Its folded to me, so I jack it up. BB calls.

Flop comes JJ8. BB checks, I bet. Turn brings a 4. BB bets, I raise, BB calls. River brings a 6. BB checks, I bet, BB calls. I show my T9 and he shows K7.

I was impressed by his call. Its a call I dont think I could make after getting raised on the turn.

I consider myself a very good short-handed player, and I didn't like being in that game. There were two tricky loose aggressive players, and one (as you saw) tenacious player. When I get uncomfortable in a short-handed game, then I know its a game I need out of. Usually when I sit down in a short-handed game I am completely relaxed and focused because I usually feel like I can dominate the game.

I still felt I could beat the game, but I knew I could do better in a full ring game with much less variation. Be tenacious against the aggressive players, and do a lot of thin value betting against the tenacious player. I also had to really tighten up my playing requirements when I wasn't in the blinds because all the steal equity was gone because almost always one of the blinds was going to see the turn.

The game (fortunately) filled up soon and I quickly realized all 3 players were fish in a full table ring game.

I understand your having to bet the end but I'm not sure if I'm as impressed as you are with your opponent.

kc,

next time you respond to a question involving 2040 make sure you say that you are a 1/2 grinder/stud 3bb an hour winner!!! How should one take your comment seeing that you have never ever played in a 2040 short game before, your comment was worthless considering that you aren't given any other facts about the players or other hands. I wish there was more constructive criticisms by those who actually have played in a limit game that they are replying to!!!! By the way, the play with the K7 is quality 2040 short play.

the board was something like AAQT4 and i had K2.

4 handed 20-40, i was in the bb, utg raised, heads up. i was raised on the flop and the turn i think. i think i 3 bet the flop. i called a bet on the river and he mucked his hand without showing.

it was just the right thing to do against that player at that moment.

im a bad player btw, per jensen's inquiry.
