I think 3 is fine here. No way you can bet and call a raise expecting to win.

3. check/call

might induce a bet from a A-high + some might raise here
with A-high and you don't want to call a raise here.

You are all correct. I chose (3). Now -- what happened? What does Villain have?

Check/call. Why bet and fold to a raise? You have some showdown value.

this is one of those situations where a read is absolutely necessary, but since you don't have one I'd bet and call a raise.

with a read I think betting and folding to a raise is a good option. there's only 1 9 in the deck and live 2/4 players are easily loose enough to call the flop and turn with nothing.

And loose enough to call the river with any face card and lots of PPs. There are tons of worse hands that would call a bet that check behind if hero checks. It's read dependant but I agree that bet/call is probably the best river line as a default. Checking gives up too much value.

Checking allows him a shot to bluff at it as well. QQ is a mighty good bluff catcher. I just don't think if I'm alling a raise there I have much of a chance of winning.

No, they're not fake. At least not according to the VH1 special. And as for pics, I'm way too lazy for all that.

By the way, bet and call a raise. Check calling is for weak tight players.

Really? I advocated check calling. I all of a sudden became weak tight? I'd much prefer to induce a bet from Ace high or a busted flush.

Yes really. Tons of hands like A high and even K high flush draws are gonna call the bet here as are any pair. People in the 2/4 games hate folding, at least in my experience, so giving them a free showdown is weak.

I wish I'd had a read, but absent of one, I thought a couple of things:

1) What has he been calling me, the PF raiser with, this whole time if not top pair?
2) If I check, can I induce a bluff?
3) If I bet, what are the chances I get raised? If I do get raised, what are the chances my hand is good?

Answering those, I thought check-calling was the best play. My gut told me he just rivered me. I checked, villain bet, I called, and villain turned over J9 and MHING.
