Best place to buy masses of DVDs for cheap?

Mass DVDs I don't know though.

...Usually sell used DVDs for about $7 bucks a piece. If you buy a lot at once you can probably get them for $6 a piece, and you can always inspect the dvd surface for scratches before you buy.

Go to Columbia House online and set up like 4 or 5 different memberships. When I did this a couple of years of ago, I think the deal was that on each membership, you initially had to pay for 1 DVD and you got 4 for free. After that, you only had to buy 3 at full price (within 2 years I think) before you could cancel. You can get all your DVDs at 1/2 price this way. On each membership, just type your name and/or address a little different (i.e. omit a letter somewhere in the middle, use a middle initial, middle name first, just initials for first and middle, etc.) and use a different CC. I did this, but I don't know whether it's really necessary.

If you don't want to buy the 3 DVDs immediately, just make sure you go to the website every month and decline the default DVD. Unless, of course you want 5 copies of Shreck 2 sent to your house.

I signed up for netflix a couple months ago. For the first few weeks, mail transit was overnight and processing was the same day. So I could get a movie, watch, get it back in the mail the same day, and have another 2 days later. 2-3 days was the norm. By the second month, when I sent a disc back, it'd take about 4-5 days before they acknowledged it. Another 2-3 before they "sent" the next one. And about 4-5 days for me to get it. I'd be lucky to get a disc a week. Research on the web suggests that this is their standard game--and that upgrading to more discs at a time does not improve speed. After two months I quit. F-k netflix. If they can't afford to keep up with fast watchers, they should set a limit and charge for more. Instead, this passive aggressive, lying crap. Again, f-k 'em.

buy a DVD burner and keep signing up for netflix every 2 months to keep it fast.

I just signed up with Netflix and have gotten my first five movies really quickly, but I would have for it to take a week to get a movie. If they try to pull that with me, I'm gone. I'll cross m y fingers.

They just sent me an e-mail asking what day a movie got delivered on. I thought that was kind of strange, but hope it isn't them figuring out any funky way to slow my consumption. We'll see I guess. Walmart and Blockbuster are in on the DVD net rental game now, so evne if Netflix did that kind of thing before, they might be casting aside any dumb strategies these days, in a much tougher market.

I forgot to mention this point: that survey they do. How I wish I'd denied receiving that disc when I did. They would have figured out eventually, but I'm convinced that they use that question to find out how quickly they can get you disc, and then work down from there--as you infer yourself.

ok, thanks, but i don't want those movies. /images/graemlins/grin.gif remember that with shipping those cost more at best buy than at deep discount. also time spent driving to best buy could cost a considerable amount of EV due to lost poker playing time.

You're comparing the price of new and used DVDs. What a surprise that the used ones are cheaper /images/graemlins/frown.gif

Having said that, Amazon is probably still cheaper for new DVDs.

some are new. some are "used" but untouched. some are used but in significantly worn condition. read the description, look for seller names you see again and again who have 1000s of transactions. keep in mind that you get popped for $2.50 for shipping. all told, I've gotten most of my little library this way from amazon for an average of under $10 I think.
