Looks like you lost about the right amount to his AK.

i don't see any reason to get into a pissing contest with this guy on the flop like you did. i'm content to bet, call the raise on the flop, then check/call the rest of the way unless you spike the OESF.

cheers!

With that said, do you lay this down to the raise on the turn due to his cap on the flop and raise on the turn? AK is a pretty likely hand? Is it right to call this down?

You can't fold at any point. On the turn you still have the second nut flush draw plus you can chop with AK if an ace falls.

he has an overpair, a straight draw including 4 outs to the nut straight, and the second nut flush draw. it's a situation where he'll usually have the best hand and if he doesn't have the best hand he has a million outs to make the best hand. the only hand that has him in a lot of trouble is A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifK

That's way too weak. Hero will make a straight or flush more than 50% of the time by the river. If he had the luxury of assuming that his hand would always be good if he made it then he should raise until he's out of chips. Of course he doesn't have that luxury but there is also a good chance that he still has the best hand. Villian could have something like A /images/graemlins/diamond.gifQ /images/graemlins/spade.gif.

You certainly don't lay this down to the raise on the turn and definitely check call the river.

On the turn you still have 9 outs to improve to a flush which probably will be good and 3 outs to tie if an A falls. Plus, he could be overplaying AQ, although very unlikely.

Thanks for all the comments. He did have the non-A/images/graemlins/diamond.gif AK and MHING.
