Pacific 2/4 Somewhat loose, passive.

Hero BB with 5/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/club.gif (9 handed)

UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, 1 fold, LP and CO call, Button folds, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif 5/images/graemlins/heart.gif A/images/graemlins/spade.gif

SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, MP1 raises, folded to hero.

Hero calls (probably to c/r the turn) or raises now? Or something else?

UTG would be getting 5.5 to 1 to call if you call, so you should raise if only to drive him out, so that you can cut the field down to the MP1 (big Ace? Flush Draw?). Also, you raising it further cuts down MP1's pot odds (implied odds take over here?).

I've always thought you should charge the flush draws to make it long-term -EV for them to stay in.

I see your logic, but I think you need to protect your hand here. You don't want villan drawing out on you with a flush, you have to punish him for trying! I therefore 3-bet.

I'm okay with waiting until the Turn to c/r. If a blank falls your pot equity will have gone from good to great.
What's your play when a spade falls?

his pot equity is most likely already great.

Agreed. I said I was "okay" with it.

Flush draw is about 1:2.5 to hit by the river - this notion of "charging" draws is misguided.

There are also straight draws possible, and they must be punished for staying in as well, so I think a 3-bet is in order.

I probably 3-bet the flop and c/r the turn anyway.
