Just thought for my 200th post I'd come up with a lame idea/joke... Anyways, looked thru the search and couldn't find it anywhere, but has some other nerd already came up with the corny idea of calling this the 2+2ums instead of the 2+2 forums??

Yep, that was the kind of response I was looking for /images/graemlins/cool.gif

I was just wondering if I had the honor of being the first person to post that increadibly lame idea. I would just be a little surprised with all the math nerds we have around here, that none of them has thought of the readymade, cheezy pun. Or maybe its just that they did but had too much dignity/intelligence to actually post such a thing

"UMS" is an acronym from linguistics meaning "universal meta-syntax", it refers to the recursive proto-logic of the Chmoskyan deep grammar which governs all written and spoken language. One of the biggest controversies of modern linguistics is whether mathematics is also governed by UMS, this is sort of the neuro-linguistic equivalent of the idealist vs. constructivist debate within math itself: is mathematical reality some kind of concrete, platonic ideal that we discover or is it merely a set of protocols; a shared syntactical, discursive, convention (a forum) that we all agree to use?

Unless you want a Tony Danza Tap Dance Extravaganza avatar, you should probably focus on playing more hands than posting this type of dribble.
