166 SNGs, 20+2, all at Paradise. I think I'm good enough to move up. My question is, am I good enough to go to 50+5, or should I go 30+3?

I would go to the $30's. 166 isnt good enough to nail down your ROI, but something like 30% would make me a little more comfortable.

My ROI at the 30's through 200 was 26%. This included a stretch when I played much worse than I was capable of and my true ROI is probably significantly higher than that.

My ROI at the 50's through 150 is 17%. Again, this includes a stretch when I played terribly/couldn't win a coinflip and I *think* my true ROI at my peak is a little higher...but not by all that much.

Basically, at least at Party, there's a significant variation in play between the two, both because of the better players and increased chip count (this, in particular, makes the early and middle levels a little more tricky, and it will probably take you at least a few days/dozen tourneys to make that adjustment.) If you skip the 30's after a decent, but not great track record at the 20's, you do it at your own risk.

If you do it without the bankroll for it, you've no chance.

Your ROI is good, but not amazing. You definitely shouldn't be going up to the 50s yet. That is, unless you have the bankroll to support it and don't mind risking it. If you really wanna try the 50s, my recommendation is play the 30s, and make sure you can play them okay. So maybe every 5-10 $30s you play, you can try a $50 for fun.
