I have a new Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop and a Sony WEGA TV. What cables would i need to hook up the video and audio to the TV?

I think it may depend on your video card.

64MB GEForce...whatever comes with Dell's but upgraded to 64MB over the standard 32MB...Would an S-Video do the trick?

I believe you need something with an video out port.

I have an 8200. It should have come with an adapter which plugs into the port next to the dvd/cd room for s-video/composite(yellow cable)/digital audio. I use the headphone jack with a splitter for audio,

Yeah...you're probably gonna need a new video card.

ATI TV Cards (http://shop.ati.com/searchresults.asp?dept_id=27)

I'm partial to ATI (for no significant reasons really), but I'm sure Geforce has similar cards.

Wouldn't this just help him watch something on his laptop? He needs a video output to hook his laptop up to his TV, I believe.

Nope, that actually allows you to watch stuff on your laptop on your TV. I have a bunch of AVI files on my laptop i watch on my TV without a problem and listem to mp3 files on my receiver.
