I took advantage of the great deal a couple of weeks ago on Dell Inspiron 8600s. However, I want to upgrade the memory to at least 1 GB. Where is the best place to get cheap, reliable memory? Also, is it easy for a computer novice to install? I have never opened up a laptop before.

Depends on the Laptop. Some are very easy (open a cover on back and pop in). Some are tough (remove the keyboard).

You can find god ram at www.kingston.com (http://www.kingston.com)

You can order specific for your laptop so you get the right type.

Also there is a possibility that all your RAM slots are already full so you may have to replace your old chips with newer higher capacity chips.

Look on the bottom of your computer and see if you can identify the RAM compartment. If so open it up and see if both slots are filled. If you can't find the Ram compartment I suggest you take it into a shop to get it done.

How much memeory do you have now and what OS are you using?
