OK, with all this talk about drugs and masturbating, time to change the subject a little bit...

Chipotle is the stone cold nuts /images/graemlins/cool.gif. I swear, I'm getting addicted to the stuff...anybody else have this "problem"?

There's a burrito joint in Great Barrington MA called "La Choza" that I definitely fiend for. My favorite is Cheech's garlic hot sauce. Mexican sausage is awesome.

What is the correct pronunciation of the word "chipotle"?

I order this flavor a lot and sort of alternate between "chip-oh-tly" "chip-oh-til" and "chip-ole-ty"

NOTE: I'm sure I didn't use the Webster's method of wrtting out pronounciation but hopefully you get the idea.

How about hotsauces? I personally like XXXtraHot Habenero Sauce and Tabasco to a lesser extent.

Chipolte is pretty good, but I can think of atleast 5 other places I have personally been to that are better.

I like the Chicken or Steak Fajita Burritos, w/ corn salsa.

Chipotle sucks. Its a step above TBell. Any real mexican joint beats the [censored] outta it.

Chipolte is owned by McD's, right?

Edge34

Well, any "real" mexican restaurant is going to beat the hell out of anything fast like this...but when it comes down to quality with speed, not much beats this.

There's this one place here called Mexican Village that's pretty good, and given time, I'd take a good sit-down meal anytime. But to say Chipotle sucks, that just isn't right.

ThaSaltCracka
11-06-2004, 11:37 PM
it doesn't suck, but its slightly above average.

Yes, just like Chicken out.

They figured out healthy food doesn't sell, so they made the most unhealthy food possible and people line up out the door.

Chicken out was McD's attempt at fast, healthy food.

Not so popular.

Chipotle(also McD's) is unhealthy, easy to run, and very popular.

I have never heard of Chicken Out.

Anybody ever been to La Victoria in San Jose near SJSU? Best burrito I've ever had, puts the big chains to shame.

Chipotle sucks.

Sorry Victor is right.

The best burritos are smothered with excellent green chile. Beef, bean, breakfast, whatever, the key is the green. The next best are more authentic carne asada type burritos at non-chain Mexican restaurants or trucks or sometimes the coleman cooler sales people. Chipotle is better than taco bell, but may not be as good as Taco John's. Yeah, it's that bad. I guess the quality is better than Taco John's, but at least TJ has their super hot sauce which is better than the crap chipotle puts on their stuff.

Edge...Being from MN i totally understand where you are coming from. Before getting to San Diego I thought chipotle was the nuts too. But now that I am living like 10 min from mexico I have found that there are plenty of good buritto places other than chipotle. On the other hand, I still love chipolte and I agree with you in that i dont think anyone can beat their combination of speed/size/taste/price.

BTW-Mexican Village rocks too!

Chipotle is about the 843rd best place to get a burrito here in SF.

Hey diablo,

After all the responses from people in different places, I realized that in different regions there are some MUCH better places, especially if time/cost are not issues. Heck, I know for a fact there's a lot of better places even in Minneapolis. So what's the best place out in SF?

Sorry dude, Chipotle sucks.

I don't get why I've walked by the Washington Ave. one in Minneapolis and seen a line stretch far the outside door. I'd estimate there were 150-200 people waiting in line for that dung in a shell. We're talking like 45-60 minute wait... for fast food. What's the fascination over that place?

Although I'm not a huge fan of burritos in general I hear Burrito Loco is substantially better than Chipotle, at least for Twin Cities fast food Mexican eating.

Obviously if you have a few minutes you'd just go to Don Pablos.

Anyone ever eaten at Qdoba? It's like Chipotle, but better... They have them in Denver.

yeah Qdoba is better, they have one in the seattle area.

Hey Diablo,

Actualy not really...I made the original post while eating Chipotle, and I know there's better places when you're lookin' for real Mexican food. Blame it on temporary ignorance. I thought about starting a thread about best Mexican Restaurants...maybe I still will...

Cheap + Fast + Good (in St. Cloud) = Chipotle

Like NLSoldier said...if I just lived a little closer to Mexico....

Nothin to be embarrassed about...in St Cloud where the only competition is Bravo burrito and that new place by buffalo wild wings, Chipotle is the nuts. The board is just much more uncordinated in St Cloud than in other parts of the country...remember the nut is always relative /images/graemlins/wink.gif

chipotle started in denver I think. And it was about the 439th best burrito in town. Diablo's SF is bigger, that's why chipotle ranks higher in denver. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

in denver, you can just pull off the side of the road when you see one of those burrito trucks and get a better one than qdoba.

Whoever refrenced Taco Johns... I dorve across country this summer and unfortunately discovered that place. I think it is the worst food I have ever tasted in my life. It makes english food seem gourmet.

Chipotle is ok, reliably consistent. There are tons of good places in San Diego (santanas and JVs most notably) but you never know if you're going to feel like crap the next day. The risk is worth it though /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

St. Cloud just doesn't cut it for good food. There are a handful of decent places, and the rest very average.

I had Anna's a couple of times in 2000-2001. I loved it. I raved about it. I always wanted to go back. I finally got to this summer.
I was disappointed. It wasn't anything like I remembered; in fact, it was kind of bland /images/graemlins/blush.gif. I guess I'll have to get out west to try what the west-coasters say are far superior burritos.

HDPM

Get off the pipe. Taco John's is admittedly low quality and vile in some respects, but it is bad in a good way. The super hot sauce is excellent on their basic bean or beef burritos and the tacos are good with it. It isn't the best burrito ever, but is orders of magnitude better than English food. But I agree san diego has great places. In sandiego I would never set foot in either a taco john's or chipotle.
