I have been playing sitngos for a few months now and find that I normally finish in the money. However, I have only played the $5 sitngos, and normally blow my winnings in ring games. My question is this: If someone was to play only sitngos, no ring games, what level should he be playing at to make an average of $150 a month?

Depends on how many you play, and your ROI. $150 per month is easy enough at even the $10 level for a good player.

Well if you had a 30% ROI at the $500+30 SNGs on stars then you could make $150 a month if you just played 1 a month.

Well, according to my Poker Charts account, for single table tournaments only, I have this:

ROI: 40.28%
Sessions: 112

These are all $5 sitngos... but I lost all the profit at the ring games.

150 = B*ROI*N

B = buy-in level
ROI = ROI!
N = number of SnG

however, you need at least 500-100 sng to know your true ROI

Yes, but he could go 10 years and still have a - roi (even as a winning player)

anyways $150 is such a low number. Even at the 11s you only need to play about 50-60 sngs a month to make $150. And 50-60 is such a small sample size you could have a few months in a row and still be in a hole. (Just not likely)

your question should be more like

How many sngs do I have to play in a month to make $150, and at what level(s)?

sounds like you've made about 269 bucks of profit playing these $5 sngs. How long has it taken you?

If your ROI is 40%, you are probably safe to dabble in the $10 sng level, but if you start losing drop back to the $5 level quick.

If you play 2 sngs a day at the $10 level with a 25% ROI, you'd make about 165 bucks a month.
If you play 3 sngs a day at the $5 level with your 40% ROI, you'd make 216 bucks a month.

To make $150 a month, play between 40 and 80 $10 +1 sit and go's a month. If you are quite good, (which I am guessing you are not because you are struggling with low limit ring games) you could get away with only playing 40 of them, if you are reasonably mediocre you would make that much playing about 80 of them. Please note that if you want to take exactly $150 home every month you may have to play considerably more or less in any given month because of the variance involved. I suggest staying away from the $5 +1's because even though the competition is a little weaker, the juice is considerably higher in proportion to the buy in.

I am pretty sure he plays at stars if his screen name is the same so the juice isnt as high. I think you could make it at the $10 level. Thats normally what I play.

If you can't do the math to figure this out, you shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a table.

Youre right, I cant do math. I should not play poker... /images/graemlins/wink.gif I also cant spell big words, so I should not read.

Actually, I did the math. I had my own ideas. However, I wanted other peoples opinions, so I posted.

p.s. - Since I am so stupid, wouldnt you *want* me at your table?

Hey there WC... /images/graemlins/smile.gif Yeah, same subigo from stars and CP. I have been playing the $10 games and winning for about a month. Just not enough to have any real stats.

(Most of the questions I ask on here are actually proxy questions for my roomate. I like to watch the 2+2 poker gods come out and demean the mortals.)

p.s. - I have problems with tilt at ring games. Its a different subject all together.
