I haven't been able to find a way to buy it yet, but Dell unveiled their new monitor, the Dell 2005 FPW. It's a 20.1" wide screen monitor with the same aspect ratios as the Apple wide monitor.

It will debut at $800. I'm expecting we'll see more great sales on the 2001 FP as soon as these new monitors hit the e-shelves.

Awesome, I can't wait for the 2001's to drop. It's going to make multitabling so much easier on me.

i wouldn't hold your breath. lcds have been getting cheaper because of hyper production and the trend is supposed to continue (at least for the short term). but i don't see this monitor usurping sales from the 2001fp to the point where they would have a fire sale on them. pcs are soundly 4x3 right now and there isn't an impetus to move them widescreen (tvs were easier to push to it because most film is wide).

Do you have a link to a picture of this monitor?

I doubt this is a replacement monitor to the 2001fp. The 4/3 aspect ratio will still be popular.

Yeah. This monitor will likely be pushed as part of a package to those people really into the idea of MS's new Windows Media Center. It will doubtless make watching DVD's on a 20-inch screen more compelling, but not as compelling as sprawling on the couch and watching them on your t.v.

There are some people who like wide-screen gaming, but it's not a big deal at this point, being fudged by pixel interpolation only, from what I know, rather than being catered to by game designers.

I don't think this new aspect ratio will change much, so I doubt this new monitor will change much either.

Here's another bit from the article linked directly above. If only it were wide enought to fit three tables w/o overlap!

If you have money, and want even more pixels, I can also recommend the HP L2335 23″ LCD, which can be found for $1600-1700 and boasts 1900x1200 resolution, plus component and composite video inputs in addition to VGA and DVI–we’ll hopefully have a review of in the weeks ahead.
