This 7 stud structure has been played for about 10 years long at Park Casino in Slovenia (Europe), now they spread hold'em 10-20, or Omaha pot, players just prefer the community games (sigh!).
For evident reasons of semplicity, I've changed the poor italian lira in more powerful dollars /images/smile.gif
THe game is a STRANGE $5-$10 LIMIT.
Ante is $ 2,5 and forced bet is $5.
The differences are in the RAISES AREA.
If a player wants to raise he might choose to raise 1 time, 2 times, or 3 times. THat is, if a bring-in opens for $5, he can obviously calls but whether he decides to raise he can put $10, $15 or $20. When a player raises 3 times (capped the pot) the action is "frozen" and players behind him have either to call the capped bet or to fold (they can't reraise). If a player raises only one or two times, any player behind him can cap the bet. Same betting structure on 4th (except when there's a pair showing---$5 or $10)
On 5th and 6th street, a player wanting to bet must put $10 and the raise action is the same as on 3rd or 4th street, putting in the pot $20, $30 or $40.
On the river a player could obviously check or bet an amount from $10 to $125, but when there's a $125 bet a player can just call; that is the maximum bet is $125.
Summarizing (I probably made some confusion...)
The game is spread limit like a normal structure but a player can raise 1, 2 or 3 times the amount fixed on each street.
On the river there's a "bluff" chance to bet (or raising until) a $125 maximum bet.
The first impression is that a player holding a big pair has more power to play the hand heads-up or shorthanded, but on the subsequent streets he can only bet the normal limit structure. The final $125 bet makes the game more interesting for bluff opportunities.
Needless to say, at those tables, there was a lot of action and each pot rarely contained less than $400 (and the players in were terribles...).
Any comments about the value of this structure?
THanks, Marco
