Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (8 handed)

I feel like the other streets are routine. Wondering if this is a check/fold on the river though...
Heads up I feel better about betting out with 4 flush on the board when i'm not in position... but what about 3 person?

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 8/images/graemlins/club.gif, 8/images/graemlins/spade.gif.
UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, Hero calls, CO calls, Button calls, SB folds, BB checks.

Flop: (6.50 SB) K/images/graemlins/heart.gif, 8/images/graemlins/heart.gif, T/images/graemlins/heart.gif (6 players)
BB checks, UTG checks, MP1 bets, Hero raises, CO folds, Button calls, BB folds, UTG folds, MP1 calls.

Turn: (6.25 BB) 6/images/graemlins/spade.gif (3 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets, Button calls, MP1 calls.

River: (9.25 BB) 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif (3 players)
MP1 checks, Hero bets...

Isn't it better to bet the river if you are going to call anyway? This might get a weak /images/graemlins/heart.gif to fold. And if someone raises you, you can fold so you don't risk more than when you check/call.

I'm quite new to poker so this is more of question than an advice.

I think most party-players would call one bet with a weak heart here. Another problem is: if we assume that anyone of the five opponents on the flop holding a /images/graemlins/heart.gif would draw to the flush, we're a 11.6:1 dog here. That would make even a call slightly -EV. Of course, anyone with a single 2/images/graemlins/heart.gif or 3/images/graemlins/heart.gif would probably fold, so we're probably not that much of a dog. However, considering the probability of folding out gutshot draws, overcards (A) and perhaps a middle pair, there's no guarantee that we'll get two callers. I would say that we would have to be at least 40% favourites to win the pot to be able to bet here...
