Betfair has dribbled in gradually from 70-1 to 27-1 over the last couple hours.

The fact that Kerry is going to fight to the death, and the fact that people want their money NOW for the morning horse racing are probably both factors.

It's a common phenomenon on Betfair.

It seems likely this will not be paid for several days and people want to get their accounts fluid again for today's gambling.

Some rich guy will turn up at some point and send it back to the 33-1 region where it belongs.

If you had $100 on bush at even money (for sake of argument) you could settle up now for $95 profit and get your $100 back in your account to bet today's horses (starting in 4 hours).

Also, it's 8am here and trading has been huge all night, so people are taking their profits so they dont wake up to a nasty surprise.

No, I think Lorinda was right when she said that people want to get paid now. There money could be tied up for 11 days, so it is worth giving up a few bucks.

Sounds like easy money.

I've been tempted since 1-70, I'm now probably going to go for it (although trading has increased my roll 10% already tonight)

BBC are making every possible case for the Democrats, without really including a sense of the scale that Kerry needs to overcome.

I just had my whole betfair roll (mediocre in strength to say the least) and used it to give someone 12-1 Kerry.

I find this odd, I suprised companes like this would take so long. Is there a reason for this?

Why would a rich guy affect the odds? I'm guessing that these bets are more like stocks and not like the static odds gambling you get with lotteries and horse racing. Is this true? Please forgive my ignorance, I'm new to gambling. Actually, I don't gamble, I only play poker.

Ohio may not be declared officially for 11 days.

Betfair is a supply and demand site.

Someone offers odds and someone else takes those odds, if they take all the money available, the odds move to the next level where there is more money being offered.

The rich who are willing to buy huge chunks in scenarios like this (33k to win 1k at 1-33) will push the price right down.
