View Full Version : Double flop at ultimatebet.com

I was trying out the ultimatebet.com double flop hold'em game

for play money last night and it was different than the double

flop game I normally play. I play that the two boards chop

the pot, ultimatebet.com plays with the high hand on either

board taking the whole pot. This seemed like a completely

different game to me.

My thought was that the value of a drawing hand improves

hugely and that a made hand's value decreases dramatically.

I feel like a small or middle pair becomes a huge dog to

two overcards, and any two medium suited connectors become

worth playing. For instance, JTs feels like a favorite over

77.

Thoughts?

JTsuited is a favourite over 77 in a normal game run the numbers. But other than that i agree drawing hands are more valuable but beware straights since flushes and fulls are way more likely.

Are there just two flops in this game? Or are there two turn and river cards as well?

I think it is situational. The double flop gives your medium pair a good shot at hitting a set and "drawing to the full house". I agree your set is most likely beaten until that board pairs, so it should probably be played as a drawing hand instead of a powerful hand. I think a straight is not going to win very often in this game, mostly flushes and boats.

I play double-flop omaha hi in a home game 5-7 handed and unless you have the nuts or the 2nd nuts, you are not going to win in most cases. In a 10 handed hold'em game, I would revise the definition of a big draw to full house and medium draw to the nut flush. Also beware which board gives the bigger kickers in a flush in case both boards make a flush possible.
