I Play at Party and have just started having a go at the $5+$1 SnG's. I used to play on Ladbrokes where you started with 1500 chips and I generally did ok. I can't seem to repeat this in the Party SnG's, you start with less chips and the blinds shoot up. sO here is my question.

Which site is best, in your opinion, for SnG's?

Thanks

Party 5+1=20% rake ==> You lose $ over the long term unless you're lucky or very good or you get a tables of morons.

Don't play 5+1 unless you don't care about the rake. If you're good enough to beat the 5+1 you should play 10+1.

If you want to play lower stakes than 10+1 find another site.

AFAIK All other sites have less than 20% rake.

You absolutely want to avoid the $5+$1 SNGs, as the 20% rake is huge. My SNG experience is limited to Party, Empire, and a couple at Poker Room (was able to convert points for free tickets). At Party and Empire, the lowest I'll play is $10+$1. As was mentioned above, if you can win your fair share at $5+$1 you should be able to repeat the success at $10+$1. If your roll isn't sufficient for the $10+$1 SNGs, I just signed up at Pacific and seem to recall seeing $5+$0.50 SNGs. I have not played them, but at least the rake is half what Party and the skins charge for their $5 buy-in SNGs.

You should probably check out the 1-table Tournaments section as well. Would expect that area to provide much more info on SNGs.

Thanks started on the 10+1 SnG's now and things are going a little better.

PokerRoom also has a 20% rake on $5 SNGs. True Poker has some $5+1 SNGs, but more commonly has $6+1 SNGs. I don't think the extra $0.50 fee is a big deal. Far more serious is that the players are bad enough that I want to play for higher stakes.

There are many reasons to play other than trying to maximize profit immediately. For example, SNGs are a safe way to get some experience with NL play. If you want deeper stacks and/or slower blind increases, you might want to try PokerStars or Ultimate Bet.

I started my poker hobby playing SNGs at Pacific Poker. You can play in a 20 seater for $2 plus $0.20 rake. Very easy to win. I played 173 of those and earned 53%. That's not bad for learning.

Extremely easy (take longer than party) SnGs at www.jetsetpoker.com (http://www.jetsetpoker.com) with $5 + $0.50

if you want to get a lot of experience cheaply, try www.doylesroom.com (http://www.doylesroom.com) they have $.10 $.25 $.50 $1 $3 $5 $10 $25 $50 and $100 SnG's. Great place to get a lot of practice for cheap.

The only problem is, the standard tourney's level every 8 minutes which is a bit short.

On the other hand, if that's too long for you they also haave Speed SnG's (3 min I belive), Turbo SnG's (1 min blinds) and even 6max SnG's (8 min).

I started there a couple months ago, when they had freeroll SnG's with payouts .05/.03/.02 (they are suspended right now) and just recently cashed out 300BB for party .5/1.

Good site, good support and it's really soft /images/graemlins/wink.gif

SnGs at UltimateBet have a 10% rake but only a 5% for heads-up SnGs. I'm not sure how often the blinds increase though.
