The interesting thing about this hand is that at the time you put down the 99, you just almost have had odds to call. You have ~3.5 outs, 2 9's, and the runner-runner straight.

However, given the PF action, there is no reason to believe that this isn't going to be capped on the flop, making your implied odds of having to call 4 bets, total crap.

Given the action after your fold, you would have been correct to call. But there is no reason to believe things were going to slow down like this.

Good fold.

p.s. If the action in the hand was diffent such that I had the same immediate odds, but different implied odds, e.g. if the pot was large due to a single late position raise aginst 7 limpers, and not so crazy action on the flop, I call this with a pair and a runner-runner. But not in this case.

Oddly enough, MP1 showed 85s for a pair of eights and button showed 77, MHWHBG (my hand would have been good?).

But this isn't an ordinary turn out and I will keep making the standard laydown.
