Any comments on the following hand would be greatly appreciated.

Riverrock Casino (B&M) $2-4 limit table, 10 players. Mostly loose players, 1 beginner. Mostly calling stations. About 2 tights players.

I'm in UTG+1 position and dealt AQos

Preflop:

UTG folds
UTG+1 (me) raises to $4
2 middle position callers, folds to BB
BB calls (read on BB, somewhat loose, draws a lot, trash talks... always asks what people have at the river before he decides to call/raise a bet into him)

Flop:

Q /images/graemlins/spade.gif (sorry my mistake) 8 /images/graemlins/club.gif 5 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif rainbow

BB checks, I bet $2, everyone folds to BB who check raises to $4, I reraise to $6, BB caps at $8, I call (reraises ok? or should slow down when facing check raise?)

Turn 9 /images/graemlins/club.gif

BB Checks, I Check (Is this a correct play????)

River J /images/graemlins/club.gif

BB bets $4, I call. (Do you like the river call???)

Please critique my play. Thanks a lot!!

Results in white:
BB had Q5 clubs - improved from 2 pair to runner runner flush

Two thoughts...

Title is redundant...and how does he have Q5 clubs???

Hi Roadstar, I have played in that game many times. I would not raise AQo there, as you are going to have half a table of callers anyway. I would call, and then raise or check raise the flop. HEPFAP says something like this, if you are in a loose game, which RiverRock is, don't raise early with AQ.

Good Luck.

Raise AQ, Its a really good hand...I used to think like this too, but its just so blatantly wrong.

The 3 bet on the flop is standard.
When he checks the turn, Im betting, with the intention of calling a checkraise and calling the river.

Thanks for your help, I think the raise preflop was right because I was probably a slight favorite before the flop (which should be a positive bet over the long run). But why the bet on the turn? It seems to me he just check raised me after the flop so I was thinking he was trying it again?

Hallett: Do you solely play $2-4 or you play other tables as well... I know what you mean with tables full of loose players /images/graemlins/grin.gif everyone draws to inside straights... but should be profitable to solid players over time (I'm hoping)....
