View Full Version : Omaha/8 Hand I Observed

I visted the local casino for the first time in ages yesterday. I observed the following Omaha/8 hand. It was 4-8 with a half kill and the kill was on making it 6-12. One guy who I'm friendly with let me sweat his hand as he was in the big blind. Two limpers for $6, a raise and a re-raise. The button calls three bets cold. The sb folds and the bb shows me 4s5s6c7c. I thought he'd fold but he called it cold as did the limpers and the original raiser. I was pretty sure that the original raiser had a good hand with A2 in it with two suited to an ace somehow. I tentatively put the re-raiser on a hand with AA but I sure didn't know how he played. So there were 6 players in for $18 each making the pot $108. The flop comes A29 rainbow. Checked to first pre-flop raiser and he bets. The guy who re-raised pre-flop raised. The button (little old lady) calls it cold, the big blind calls it cold, the limpers call it cold, the bettor hits it again, the raiser caps it, and everyone calls it called. So there are 6 players and $252 in the pot. An 8 shows up on the turn putting 2 clubs on the board. Action is the same on the turn except that one player is all in for $8. So there are 5 players in the pot and $500 in the center of table in white chips as the dealer has them stacked. The aggressive player who I tentatively put on a pair of Aces says I wish no more cards would come and laughs. I'm sure at least one player the other raiser has a nut low and probably two pair to go with it. I was thinking there has to be another nut low out there. The guy who let me sweat his hand is hoping for a 3 and you know that there has to be at least one in someone's hand. The river comes another 8 with the action slowed down cosiderably. It was checked to the guy who I had put on AA pre-flop, he bets and the big bling calls with his second nut low, and the original pre-flop raiser calls. The original pre-flop raiser turns over a hand that has A234, the pre-flop re-raiser turns over a hand that has 99 for a full, and the guy in the big blind mucks. A $536 pot in $4-8 half kill game is split.

Wow, Tom, what a pot! And I thought the crew at West Edmonton Mall played loose!

Well, your buddy got pretty much about what he deserved on this one, and I am sure you would agree. What did it cost this guy, $72 to "protect" his BB? I am now going to go check out Travelocity for the first plane out to Albuquerque. You going to be there over the weekend? LOL

At least the A234 guy had the goods. The other guy takes all this pre-flop heat with 99 in his hand! Yikes.

I'll be here bro. The temp today is in the high 80's. I saw him make several other bad plays with middling cards as well. The game is always loose but I'm fairly certain it isn't always as aggressive. He was three betting pre-flop with 99. I couldn't believe that people were cold calling so much pre-flop.

If you were a REAL friend you would have slapped him upside the head.
