playing lots of short handed limit is a good place to learn how to deal with a decent swing of fortune so after 1,200 SNG's and no down swing of more than 20 or so buy-ins i figured SNG's were for wimps

saturday i put in a solid 6.5 hours over 2 sessions - a total of 39 tourneys for 1 third and 1 second - thats a lot of buy-ins and made a mess of my win rate

had a busy social life sunday so no chance for redemption but today i did a 5.5 hour session - 28 tourneys - 6 thirds 5 seconds and 8 firsts

so much for first impressions

i'm sure its been asked before and i'm too lazy to search but whats the worst downswing i can have if my ROI is between 15-25% ?

I think you've surpassed it!

(I'm guessing most people, myself included will answer 30-35 here)

About a month ago (when i first started tracking sng results), I had a time when 50 sngs made a total of 12 dollars profit. Just recently, I had an ROI of about 50 sngs with around an 80% ROI.

39 tourneys in 6.5 hours? Just out of curiosity what and where are you playing? How many are you multitabling at a time?

Thats about my rate for 4-tabling.

My ROI falls in the range you mention, and I have had a handful of 50 SNG runs with a negative ROI.

Lori says 30-35, but her ITM% is 50%, which is not realistic for the rest of us. If your ITM% is in the 40% neighborhood, you will have a 100 SNG run with a negative ROI... eventually.

i play 4 at once - i reckon i play 5.5 an hour on average - played a few more this session because i kept on finishing early

already had a 100 game run where i have lost

my ROI is around 13% but i figure i started as a novice 7-8 weeks ago so it should be going up - ITM% is 39

Sorry, Irie, I meant a 30-35 entry fee loss downswing.

Certainly I have come around to the 100 game -ROI possibility.

Just clarifying.

I see. I agree with you about the 30-35 buy-in loss being pretty close to max.

I've had a couple 50 SNG losing periods, and one close to 100... but never dropped below a 15 buy-in net loss for the period. Maybe I was lucky... though it's hard to go through a 75 SNG losing streak and convince yourself you're actually lucky to not be losing more.

I am surprised to hear that you've had a 100 SNG losing period, though, with an ITM% around 50%... but then again, I imagine you've played thousands.

I don't believe I have, however I can now see that it is possible, and WILL happen.
