View Full Version : Republicans and National Debt

In the four years Mr. Bush has been President, National Debt has gone from 5 Trillion Dollars, to almost 7.5 Trillion Dollars. A 50% increase. Under Bush Jr. the debt is now increasing at the rate of 500 billion dollars a year! (http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opd.htm)

Someone is going to have to pay for that someday, if not our children, then our children's children. Every American born into the world today is born with a 25,000 dollar debt. Again, every American citizen born into this world already inherits a 25,000 dollar debt from fiscal irresponsibility.
(http://www.publicdebt.treas.gov/opd/opdpenny.htm) (http://www.brillig.com/debt_clock/)

Interest payments alone on the National Debt now account for some 40% of the total Budget. 40% of our tax dollars go to paying interest for fiscal stupidity.

Over the last 57 years Republican Presidents have out borrowed Democratic Presidents by more than a two to one ratio. That is, for every dollar a Democratic President has raised the national debt in the past 57 years Republican Presidents have raised the debt by $2.47.

Comparing the borrowing habits of the two parties since 1981, when the Conservative movement really took hold, it is extremely obvious that the big spenders in Washington are Republican Presidents. Looking at the only Democratic President since 1981, Clinton, who raised the national debt an average of 4.3% per year; the Republican Presidents (Reagan, Bush, and Bush) raised the debt an average of 10.8% per year. That is, for every dollar a Democratic President has raised the national debt in the past 23 years Republican Presidents have raised the debt by $2.52. Any way you look at it Conservative Republican Presidents can not control government spending, yet as the graph above clearly shows, Clinton did.

From Roosevelt to Carter, National Debt remained at a steady 1 trillion. However, during the eight years Reagen was in office, it TRIPLED to 3 trillion. During the four years Bush Sr. was in office it rose 67% to 5 trillion. And now Bush Jr. has increased it again to 7.5 Trillion dollars.

Bill Clinton balanced the budget, he even had a surplus in his final years. As a Democrat John Kerry will do the same. We cannot allow the National Debt to continue growing at the pace it has under Republican Presidents.

Please. This is only one of many reasons why come Tuesday, Vote John Kerry for President.

(And I know this isn't poker related. But this election is just too important, sorry)

I really doubt that this post will change anyone's mind this close to election. Furthermore, by posting this in the wrong forum you are even more likely to piss off the people that you are trying to convert. If you are trying to change people's minds, you should do so in an intelligent manner.

You know this is the wrong forum, but you think this one gets the most views so you post random stuff here? Wrong thought order, man. The idea isn't to come to a forum and make sure that what you want to write gets read by any means, it's to post your ideas and if people want to read them, they can find them in the right area.

Bah.

Mostly, I'm just sick of politics, so purposefully avoiding the politics forum and then finding it in other places is troublesome.

It's guys like you who inspire me to check which giant douche (or turd sandwich) you're backing and go out and vote the other way.

What a [censored] you must be! Please keep us posted about your opinions on any other matters you deem of sufficient import. I'm sure they're all "too important" for us to risk missing them.

Bush will win, the national debt isn't even close to the biggest issue and you will still be a douche bag on Wednesday.

I once read an interesting post here about Paul Darden and his image vs. his real persona. The writer had played with Paul and his opinion was that Paul was not a nice person nor a good player.

The next day, Mat Sklansky deleted the post. My guess was that trashing a person isn't allowed here, if he's viewed by the moderators as a top pro.

But a post like this one gets by with no attention paid to it by the moderators. Free speech my ass! Get with the program guys!
