If you raise to about 200 then you are seemingly giving yourself outs if a scary card hits.

Well, the worst possible card in the deck hits the turn, and you still pushed all in after a bet and a cold call.

Tough to fold sets in a SnG, but this is a clear fold in my opinion. I would think it is less than 5% of the time that one of the two doesn't have the straight, which was the case here. With only one card to come you are a huge dog, even without that pesky overset.

this couldn't have been more than a $10 buyin

It's a 2 outer. The J /images/graemlins/diamond.gif gives you the str8 flush.

First, this is my first post. I have spent weeks reading different threads and I have enjoyed every moment of it.

Anyway, if I am reading this correctly, you had more than just a two outer. Depending on what the others had you could have also paired the board with a q, t, or 8, to make a full house--giving you a total of 11 outs. If they both were showing straights then this is correct. Someone let me know if I am wrong. Thanks and I look forward to read more great threads!

Edit: also beating a flush.

MP1 turned a set of queens, but don't let that stop you from posting again. /images/graemlins/wink.gif

No, I'm wrong. Taking another look at this hand, I'm realizing it wasn't a 1 outer, and not a 2 outer. It's actually a 10 outer . Quite amazing, yes, but it's a ten outer: ALL your flush outs are good, in retrospect.

Shall we delete this thread and start again.

How many SNGers does it take to count outs lol.

We are soon going to realize hero was actually the favorite here... /images/graemlins/grin.gif

SNGers here should probably work more on their hand reading skills (including me). The title of this thread looks very funny now. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Ooops. 2 more outs for a split... /images/graemlins/grin.gif.

So it's 10 for a win, 2 more for a 3-way split.

I agree with Lori about deleting and starting all over again. /images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I just worked out what you are missing.

Highlight the bottom of the post as if you were going to copy/paste.

It's standard procedure on this particular forum, it hides the results until you are ready to see what happened and makes it easier to form an opinion about a hand with no hindsight.

Wouldn't that be three outs; the three jacks? Or are you talking about two other outs?

The jack of diamonds gives hero the winning (straight) flush, and it's not a split. It's one of hero's 10 outs for a win (9 diamonds + the case 9). The two other jacks (Jc and Jh) give the 3 players the Q-high straight (on the board). Notice that there are only 3 jacks left, since BB has the Js.

So it's 10 outs for our hero to _win_ the hand, plus 2 more for a 3-way split.

I'm actually a little surprised that no one had the flush. I defintaely didnt see the set of queens coming.
