View Full Version : Moving up in limits....Should I stay with Ultimate Bet?

I play on Ultimatebet. I currently play at the .25/.50 limit and will be moving up to the 0.50/1.00 limit shortly (I am approaching 300 BB's for the 0.50/1.00 limit). I don't use poker tracker, but keep track of every session I play in Excel. My win rate at the 0.25/0.50 level is about 5 BB/100 hands (after ~7000 hands).

My questions are:

1.) When I move to the 0.50/1.00 limit, should I switch to party poker (or another site)?

2.)Is the play at UB tighter/tougher, at these limits, compared to other sites?

3.)What sites are softer than UB at these limits?

Thanks

ub's .25/.50 is a great learning stage, but once you have the BR to move up, Party's gotta be the way to go when playing .50/1.00. the games are just too good there, espcecially considering that UB is a relative rock garden in comparasion at the same level.

Party is definitely the place to play. I switched over from Paradise and spend most of my time here. But I think for a micro player working off bonuses is the most profitable. I would suggest you clear 1st deposit bonuses at all the top poker sites. You can build a good bankroll quickly this way.

I did my time at UB $0.50 / 1.00 and it was fine. My BB/100 is lower than what the PP folks brag about, but that could be anything.
The UB software is SO MUCH BETTER than PP I felt it was worth sticking around. Plus I didn't want to make a new deposit in PP.

I agree that the UB software is better and I've been very happy playing at UB. I also don't want to hassle with transfering money to PP.

However, I don't want to make a big mistake with table selection. If there is a softer game in town and I'm not there because I'm lazy, then shame on me.

Thanks for all the advice. I love this forum.

I have fun on UB.
It is very beatable.
If you don't really want to switch, then don't...it would be hard to make a serious game selection mistake at .50/1 on any site. PP also doesn't show you flop % so that can make selection harder.

Depending on how many tables at a time you play, I have noticed that pacific poker and sportingbet are the softest around. But you can only play 1 table at a time and you cant do anything w/pokertracker which sucks.
