Comments? Been having problems lately dealing with middle pairs (including pockets like hand 2) w/ top kicker (hand 1). My gut tells me I played these right, but looking for second opinions.

In hand 1:
I guess if you're going to stick in there with that little piece of the flop, a raise is good. You're hoping mp3 has overs or something and can fold. When he keeps calling, your only hope of winning this hand is to fold him by betting out...
I'm confused about why you checked the river.

Hand 2 looks ok...bad turn, probably a good fold.

I don't like the first hand. The pot is only 5SB when it is your turn to act. I would save my bets for another hand.

Pot size is key in the first hand. 5 SB is not enough to work with, and your middle pair is very small. Even if the bettor doesn't have top pair, he is almost sure to have two over cards to your fours. Fold. I like the way you played hand 2.

thanks guys

I thought hand 1 was a little shady, didn't bet the river because an overcard came and I realized that the pot was too small

I just fold the flop in hand one. maaaaybe if the pot were bigger I'd continue.

In Hand 2 why fold the turn? Were you hoping for a free card on the turn? The second Jack falling only helps you i think, making it less likely that he holds a jack...

I guess I figured with a bet and call in front of me one of them was playing J, your reasoning makes more sense /images/graemlins/smile.gif

I dont understand why you folded the river in hand 1. Your hand is probably good often enough there.
