this is frivolous but true.

i was playing heads up microlimit no limit ($10 buy in) with a friend while drinking the other night. i had seen two guys at last years wsop playing highlimit no limit 10 card triple draw lowball so i decided we should try a hand of that and see what happened. (for some reason i am slightly obsessed with the game of lowball and, after i buy mason's book on it, you will find me playing it at the ghetto normandie casino, i saw them spreading it the other night, i will be the person who is 40 years younger than everyone else).

anyways, i was dealt a perfect pat 10 (A-T) with the exception that the 7,8, and T were paired. i drew 3 and they were the exact 3 cards i needed to complete my perfect A-T! i didnt even have to draw again. what are the odds??

The question is, did you get all the money?

By my reckoning, the chance of the first card you draw being good towards your nut low is 12/42, the second, 8/41, and the third 4/40. The chance of you making the nut low on a single three card draw is the product of these three, which is .005575. This translates to about 178:1 against.

Who's my third round opponent?
