You have $100,000 and you are to stake someone to ten 10k buy-in nolimit holdem tournaments with it. Would you rather stake John Bonneti or Ben Affleck?

Affleck or Tom McEvoy?

Affleck or Brad Daugherty?

Affleck or David Williams?

Affleck or Barbara Enright?

Affleck or Moneymaker?

McEvoy obviously...don't you know he wins 14% of the tournaments he buys into?

Affleck, across the board.

Daugherty won the WSOP in 1991. If you look at his picture, he totally doesn't look like someone whose name would be Brad Daugherty.

He also played center for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1990s. But that was a different Brad Daugherty.

I hear John Bonneti is a real SOB.

In his current Hand of the Week, Phil Hellmuth writes that Bonneti is a close friend of his. Any close friend of Phil Hellmuth's is no friend of mine.

This a trick post or some kind of new math, Paul? Three?

I would consider staking Enright, but if forced to make a decision, Affleck sweeps.

Williams is the only one, and that's a maybe. All the others have a proven track record, however short. Affleck has 1 big win, period.

Bonetti i'd take over BA 100 times out of 100. Not even close.

Mcevoy is EASY over BA.

Daugherty is EASY over BA.

Williams is not so easy, but he DOES have a WPT 2nd shortly after WSOP 2nd, so maybe he's not as bad as some of his play on ESPN looked.

Enright I've heard is a great, aggressive player, and would take her over BA if I had to choose, but I don't know how strong a pick this would be.

Moneymaker over BA pretty easily too. He DOES have WSOP under his belt, plus a 2nd in WPT.

All said, BA seems to be a solid player, but no better than hundreds if not thousands of other players out there now, no matter how "world class" Annie says he is.

That said, I have zero specific info on BA's game.

Plus, as we all know, any guy with tons of money can just buy in to a biggie and have titles thrown at him, right Paul?

EH, why am I asking you. You're not even a real pro. Neither is Barry Greenstein then for the same reason....

That's interesting; I said I'd taken Ben over three of those players but David wasn't one of the three.

Granted since I've played with all of them I'm applying somewhat different information than you are. I don't care about results when figuring out who to book, I only care about how good I think they are.

The triumverate you speak of is more than likely Daugherty, Enright, and Moneymaker.

I would back Affleck over every one of them except McEvoy

A couple are close, though. I might take Chris over Affleck. Don't know anything about Dougherty (or even how to spell his name), so this is in the close category for me. Williams probably close. Rest, not close. I've played with the others...

I didn't say I thought Affleck was better than all of those people. I was just answering the question asked.

There’s a very funny Dana Carver sketch impersonating John McLoughlin talking about poker hiding somewhere in this thread.

John McLaughlin: Wrong! The correct answer is 134. 134. Issue number 6: what did you have for breakfast today? Eleanor!

Eleanor Clift: Some cantaloupe.

John McLaughlin: Mortontown, USA!

Morton Kondracke: I had poached eggs and toast.

John McLaughlin: Jack Germondo!

Jack Germonde: Bacon and eggs.

John McLaughlin: Patty Patty Buke Buke!

Pat Buchanan: I'm thinking waffles, maybe a little..

John McLaughlin: Wrong! You all had Special K with banana. Issue number 7: what is issue number 14 going to be? Some say it will deal with economic matter, others believe it will involve Germany. Morteeny-tiny-tabletop!

So are you trying to say blind people can't play cards very well. You should be ashamed of yourself.

I'm sorry. I thought this was an opinion forum.

I just think putting Affleck up in pseudo-competition against proven pros and newcomers is more than a bit disingenuous. There are lots of guys that have won big events that are ten times the player Affleck is that get little to no attention. I understand this is the cult of celebrity, but I'm calling a spade a spade,(good thing he's not black or I could be in trouble...).

And no, it's all me. I do have alternating moments of astounding clarity and blinding ignorance.

Are you hoping for some reciprocation in the form of introduction to some hot lady-friends? If so, then you are completely correct. In fact, if you can expect to hang out with Benjamino b/c of your staking agreement, then I'd stake him over just about anyone else...
