damn, the growth here is amazing. it takes me forever to catch up on yesterdays news and can rarely get to today's posts.

i remember the days where i at least glanced at every single thread and post placed in the zoo. now i find myself skipping threads that have uninteresting titles and marking all posts as read just to get caught up. i KNOW i am missing good posts, but the volume lately is insane.

i'm certain that the owners will never create a forum just for rakeback deals cuz they don't have any financial reason to do this. however, there must be some other common sense way this forum could be split into 2 forums.

other than rakebacks, anyone have any suggestion we could forward to them on an obvious sub forum? my eyes are bleeding.

One possibility would be to create a forum just for bonuses. I've been in strict bonus whoring mode lately, and I wouldn't mind a forum where I could find nothing but bonus info.

I agree with what you're saying, I'm also skipping over a lot of threads lately because I don't have time to read everything.

We tend to get a lot of "chat" type posts not specifically related to internet gambling (to be honest those sort of posts are the main reason I hang out around here)...why not just create a forum called "The Zoo" for all those miscellaneous posts that we (some of us at least) enjoy so much and keep IG focused actual internet gambling?

I posted this on another thread earlier today...

"I was thinking there could be a seperate section for "bonus whoring" + "rake deals"

anything that pertains to money received besides what you win at the table.... "

Basically if you clumped all the non playing kickbacks (dep bonuses and rakebacks) in one new forum it can keep the internet gambling section specific to discussing if sites are down, new sites, cashout questions, etc.

I am fully aware there are sites such as Jek + Homer's (name withheld due to some Mccarthyistic shill jumping down my throat) that specialize in that, but many people just like to go to one site for all their info.

The Zoo is way too cumbersome, and that would essentially split it into 2 parts by some sort of content division.

How bout a listing similar to the classifieds section titled affiliates. Affiliates pay a nominal fee then the need for posting in the Zoo is eliminated.

Perhaps affiliates have a link attached to their name/sites represented and are directed to a web site that the affiliate has with current deals.

I see no reason to not allow 2+2 to make a little off of providing this service and newbie can easily be directed to this list.

My Bison in heat offers his services as bouncer if needed.

I posted this on another thread earlier today..

it was one of the few i read today. your post prompted me to make this post.

i don't think we have a prayer in hell of getting an affiliate type forum and i am glad. however, the bonus forum is a good idea as long as it is all bonuses offered by sites to their entire member base, and not specific affiliate offers/deals.

Well I feel honored then /images/graemlins/cool.gif

Anyway, making an affiliate fee or whatever is not going to stop the WUT IZ RAKEBAK????//// posts that newer players are going to make. People are still going to have to tell people over and over that they cant make a new party acct and to make an Empire acct and seek out an affiliate or check their PM box. Those posts along with alerts of the new Stars reload can go there.

The gripes about CRYPTO IZ DA SUK WITH SENDING ME MY PMS NUMBER can go in internet gambling... as well as posting about UB crashing for the 8th time in a week. People can talkup Zerorake and the ghost of Syntax can rain down on us all onceagain. I think there is merit to having a split of the Zoo.

Obviously bonuswhores was the site I was referring to, but didnt want to stir the pot.

If it doesn't get to space and time consuming, how about a General one, plus seperate ones for each of the online sites. The big ones, like Party, Empire, Stars etc could each get their own, or maybe combine party and Empire since they are skins. Then maybe put a couple of the "second tier" ones together.

Full Tilt and Pokerroom could share a Forum for example

This way - you could skip the "crap" on the sites you don't play on, or care about.

We shouldn't get bogged down with a too specific division of the forum.. Create 2 forums and let the content sort itself out. I would suggest:

Internet Gambling

and

Poker on the Internet

People will naturally put site posts on the poker forum, and casino and technical issues on the IG. By trial and error we will work out any other topic allocations. Let the topic groupings form naturally.

Haven't ideas been suggested in the past and shot down in flames?

indeed, but we have never even come close to seeing the volume we have seen in the last month. i thought that after the shark code thread died, it would be more manageable, but it has not slowed down.

this started with the bogus empire500 thread and has not let up.

i love the idea of each site having their own forum, but unless they pay the stooges a million dollars a year each, i doubt that would happen.

that cheerleader chick is on to something tho.

seeing as you are in with Mr. Malmuth

truth be told, it was a fleeting affair.

i dumped him as soon as i got a look at that young sklansky boy. sure, i still call mason for my 4am tequilla induced needs, but i can't get him to leave before the sun comes up.

i'm tired of the talk from the neighbors, so lately i have just used the "jack rabbit" when things get moist.

it don't talk back and it does not expect breakfast.

first of all, i'm not "in" with anyone. and if i were "in", i would probably be held to a much HIGHER standard than everyone else.

that being said, if i recall, the post that was deleted had the full, clickable URL to bw.com. i have placed that full url myself many times in the past and it was left alone. i suspect that someone must have reported it this time and that is why his post was deleted.

this serves to silence those that retort with their stupid arguments that sponsors get preferrential treatment.

I think this split (or something close to it) is the best split suggested so far, by a longshot. Here's why:

A split like:
Internet promotions (bonuses, affiliate stuff, and probably 90% of the casino/sportsbook info)

General Internet gambling (info on poker sites, tech questions, gaming laws, and other misc stuff. This forum would be the current Zoo.)

Makes for a simple split that even spammers can get right (at least they do on my forum where I recently made a very similar split.) While the general IG forum would still be a bit busier than the new one, it's a much more even split than the one suggested by ChristinaB. Christina's proposed split basically just shaves some stuff off the current IG forum, and would likely end up as no more than a short term solution. I think B00T's would serve us quite well until 2+2 doubles in size again (which may not be that far in the future either, but oh well.)

I realize Mat/Mason/Chuck may not go for this propose split, but I think it's a lot more attractive to them if the word 'affiliate' is omitted from the title of the forum (and still everyone who wants that info knows where to look.)

Edit for a bit of formatting.

Just lost my cherry (I think). I've officially entered my rebel period as a 2+2 poster. http://users.telenet.be/eforum/emoticons4u/evil/509.gif

Seriously though, the message was against the rules and I have no problem with it being deleted...I was just being a smartass and made a clickable link to a certain site that is run by a certain 2+2'r that provides excellent information about bonuses.

no offense taken. i was being serious that even with such a white-bread poster like jason, there ain't nobody that gets to slide. i would venture to guess that mat would delete one of dad's post if it was spammy and there were enough complaints. of course he may delete it just for the fun of it, but he would also check raise him out of the wsop just for the fun of it.

but you are right that i may have been defensive. there were trolls following me last week claiming i had "purchased" my way into the right to break rules, and that is insane. buying banners makes you more scrutinized in this police-state forum.
(sorry mat, could not resist the last statement)
