View Full Version : How Do You Figure Rake?

In PokerTracker, there's a field in the General screen that lists Total Rake. I always thought that is how much you have paid. But I have heard that taking the total rake paid on the Summary screen divided by the average number of players is another way to figure it out. The General screen and the Summary method never agree. Which one is right?

Who actually pays the rake? My thinking was that it's the winner of the pot. For example, let's say in a 10 handed ring game, there's 2 maniacs who are in every hand together and everyone else folds preflop for 100 straight hands. One maniac wins all 100 hands and each hand is raked $1. If I'm one of the 8 who folded every hand, my rake in the General screen will show zero but the rake in the Summary screen will show $100 in rake and 10 average players so each player would appear to have contributed $10. That just doesn't sound right.

Any insight?
