Chicago $1-5

If I can't beat the game at Mohegan, maybe I can at Harrah's East Chicago. I'm going to Chicago on business next week and will have Friday night free. Called Harrah's and they spread $1-5 wi/ .50 ante and $1 bring in. I didn't think this structure was spread elsewhere.

where is located Harrah's? Is it close to an "area" called Gary (INdiana)?


The stud game is regularly spread? (I mean every day)

it's on at least 1 table every day, 2 most days and 3 on most fridays and saturdays. they also spread a 2-10 stud game most days which sadly still leaches a dollar for the bad beat jackpot. They're open till 4:30a.m. every day but beware the boarding times(can only get on for half an hour out of every 2 hours). Yes it is located in Gary, or as I like to call it the worst place in the country.

I'm told the hotel they put up there is really nice if that's what you mean. I'm small time so I drive back and forth.


I'm not as regular as I used to be but they certainly know me there.

there's another nearby boat with 1-5 with a 25 cent ante. Makes the game much easier to beat, in my opinion. With the $.5 ante the bad players are more often incidently correct in their play.

I will be in Chicago on business next week and have Friday afternoon/evening free for poker. Was planning to go to Harrah's as it is the biggest. But if this other 1-5 with lower ante is in a decent boat with plenty of players, I'd rather play that structure. Can you provide more info? Also, what's the easiest way to get to these boats from the middle of Chicago? I'm told it's about 1/2 hour. If I take a cab out will I be able to take one back at 1 or 2 a.m.? Finally, is safety a major issue at these casinos?

.25 cent ante is out in Aurora and they're trying to kill the stud game there so I wouldn't bother (closing stud tables at 6 every night, also the poker room is closed on weekends). Go to Harris in Gary. I don't know about the cab situation, I haven't tried. Depends what you mean by the middle of chicago; directions would probably be better got from Harris than from me. I really don't feel that safety is a concern at all inside the casino, don't go for a stroll in the local neighborhoods though.

That's sad to hear. It was the theme we all remember of one of the best numbers in 'The Music Man'.
