Say you are playing in a tournament with exactly one rebuy if you bust and one addon at the first break. How should your strategy differ from a typical Stars rebuy tourney strategy?

Should you play it like you would play a Stars tourney, and if you bust play the second buyin like a normal freezeout? How does the addon option affect this?

A related question. When you get only one rebuy, but can take it immediately & start with twice as many chips, does't it always make sense to do this? If you get a monster, you want those extra chips to use against a bigger stack.

I agree. I would take the rebuy immediately.

That seems obvious. But what's more interesting to me is, what if you can't take the rebuy immediately?

I have played in several like this. You get 1 Rebuy, but must be broke to take it, for the first hour only.

How I play is half way through, if Im not in good chip position (doubled up), I will push my 50/50 edges trying to double up or use my rebuy.

Chasing the flush draw if the pot odds are almost there, etc... push back hard.... my 99/1010/JJ/AJ are now hands to muscle people.

How much does the factor that the re-buy never goes up play into this?

Assuming this is the PR rebuy, you always re-buy for 1,500 chips, be it blinds at 25/50 or 75/150.

It doesn't seem like a great deal to re-buy at blinds 75/150 when it's just 10xbb, and many stacks are at or over 5000 already.

I tend to play pretty tight as you only get one re-buy. I think you can trap many people, and play the hands you do get agressive.

I actually haven't played in any of the PokerRoom rebuys yet; I came here to ask for strategy tips before trying them.

I'm unsure if I'm playing. It starts right when trick-or treating ends, so it all depends on what my little ones are doing.

IF I do play, I'm gonna play uber-tight the first hour. I think the people who win the bounties will all be in the last 3-4 tables anyways. People will play loose trying to up their bounty load.

But if you think about it how many extra bounties will you get in the first hour? Once you get down to 3-4 tables left, you should be able to knock out a lot more people,

Why would you only start playing this way halfway through?
