Foxwoods Questions

Going to Foxwoods on Friday night, and have some questions about it. Any help would be appreciated.

1. Any tips on the culture? I've played at several rooms in Vegas, and I realize that different rooms have very different personalities.

2. What games are dealt on Friday nights? What is the buyin for a NL table? Are the limit games fixed limit or spread?

3. How long is the wait for a seat?

Friday nights are pretty busy. I can't say for sure what NL games they'll be running but there's usually a 1/2 blind one with a $100 max buy-in ($5/half hour time, no rake) and a 5/5 blind one ($200 min buy-in, no max, $6 or $7/half hour time, no rake) running. There's sometimes also a game with $10/$25 blinds but I have no idea what the time charge or buyins are as its well out of my bankroll range.

Besides holdem, there's stud and usually some low-limit (2/4 or 5/10 kill) Omaha8. Sometimes, there will be a HOSE or other rotation game going. Anything that isn't currently running can be requested and, if they get enough people on the interest list (and there's a free table), they'll start it.

The wait might be even worse than usual with the Foxwoods World Poker Finals tournaments starting up soon. I usually drive down from Boston early on Saturday or Sunday so I can get on the lists before the waits are too long so I can't give you an accurate estimate of a Friday night other than to say the times I've been there on Fridays (starting in the morning), its been pretty packed by evening.

If you play the FW 5-10 w/full kill, the kill rules are different than in Vegas. In Vegas, the kill occurs after someone has won a pot twice in a row, at FW the kill occurs after a $100 pot or greater has been won.

Loose 5-10 tables can lead to playing many hands at 10-20 and the quality of players is rarely better than the 4-8 crowd.

Any tips on playing "kill" games? My rudimentary understanding is that the stakes double for some weird reason whenever some condition is met. Any other difference? Any good threads on how strategy changes in kill games? I'm tempted to give the 5/10 a shot . . . it's weird. I've played thousands and thousands of hands of SH 5/10 online, I'm a consistent +2BB/100 winner, but for some reason playing stakes that high in a casino is a little intimidating. Bizarre.

Anyone got the # to get on to the Board? Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to call ahead to get on The List.

you name the time, there will be games going at many limits. last i heard, FW is the biggest poker room in the country.

I think it's the second largest poker room, although it's certainly the largest east of the Mississippi. Also probably the most crowded, with the most indifferent/inept floor staff you're gonna find.

It is, however, the largest casino anywhere. 12,500 employees, the last time I got the list of statistics.

It's the largest East of the CA card rooms - nothing in Vegas is close.
