View Full Version : General Stud Help/Advice?

05-14-2002, 09:59 PM
I'm going to be playing in a home game where everybody gets their chance to call the game for one orbit of the table. I'm a holdem player and to a lesser extent an omaha player.

Obviously I have to pick up a book or two, but in the meantime, what general advice can you give to someone who hasn't played a lot of stud and stud/8.

Thanks in advance...

Get Seven Card Stud for Advanced Players and High-Low Split Poker for Advanced Players. Read them both 20-25 times (that's what I've done anyway). As for general advice, the most important thing in both games is to play live cards. Also realize that low hands in stud/8 are generally much better than high hands (unless you're rolled-up).
