How many times a week do you eat McD's or unhealthy fast foods?

I usually eat McD's once a week on average, but I never order the fries or drink pop anymore. I love their fries though, but everytime I finish eating even 10 french fries I get bloated and sick. Juice and burgers only, sometimes I get the Chicken Strips Select.

Mcd's over here is trying to rebrand as a health food shop, all salads and chicken meals, plus now pushing toast and bagels along with porrige at breakfast time.

I have read through the calories and fat of macd's products (they are printed on the tray paper now over here) and to be honest the fries and pop are probably more healthy fat wise than any of the burgers (there are salt and suger issues). The only semi healthy burger was the plain hamburger which is too small to be a meal anyway.

I dont think we have chicken strips over here so cant comment.

Pop, Fries . . . bloated ??

Man those new chicken strips have about 10 times as many calories as either of the two things that you have sworn off of.

I have a 2 1/2 year old so we have lunch there about twice a month. I tried those Chicken strip selects a couple of weeks ago and they were horrible. They certainly do not give the folks at KFC anything to worry about.

I was expecting this thread to be about the documentary "Supersize Me". Ive seen it and its pretty good, the guy is actually kinda funny. For those of you who dont know about its some guy who eats nothing but mcdonalds for a month. (seriously, nothing) Throughout the thing he does other stuff too, like going to schools and talking about the food they serve. I forgot a lot of it, but I recommend renting it if you get bored. Even if you dont enjoy it, it will probably get you to quit eating fast food, which of course would be good.

daryn
10-26-2004, 12:20 PM
did you hear about the other documentary? where a couple people ate nothing but mcdonalds for a month and actually lost weight? i'm not joking by the way. just goes to show what a little exercise can do.

Sponger15SB
10-26-2004, 12:37 PM
I don't really eat that much "fast food" anymore, but when I do its always either a chicken strip product or in&out/$6 burger at carls.

Supringly enough i've NEVER had a burger at mcdonalds. When I was younger I always got chicken nuggets.

Now I live within walking distance to good food and I don't have a car, so I just go to pita pit (http://www.pitapit.com/?page=pt) every day for breakfast and then like 3 nights a week for dinner.

daryn

i suppose they did it to show that you can actually lose weight by eating mcdonalds 30 days straight, and to show that a big reason as to why the first dude gained weight was that he did no exercise. not that mcdonalds is healthy, i hate that garbage.

poison for your body. you have to be either not thinking about it or have a death wish if you eat it. same for smoking.

MarkL444
10-26-2004, 12:48 PM
yeah but why? just to make some money off the movie? or from somewhere else? did they have a bet with someone?

Topflight
10-26-2004, 02:46 PM
I'm going to say he gained weight more from eating 3000 to 4000 calories a day, than he did from not working out.

I'm sure it's possible to eat McD for a month, not work out, and not become a grotesquely fat bastard.

In North America, "soft drink" commonly refers to cold, non-alcoholic beverages. Carbonated beverages are regionally known in the Midwest and most of Canada as "pop." In Québec they are called soft drinks. In the Northeast, parts of the South (near Florida) and Midwest (near St. Louis), and California, they are known as "soda." In Atlanta and some other parts of the South, they are generically called "coke". (Atlanta is home to the Coca-Cola Corporation). The Pacific Northwest, being a melting pot of America, uses both "pop" and "soda," however, for most people, "pop" comes in a bottle, and "soda" comes from a fountain or can. Elsewhere they are called "soda pop." See The Great Pop vs. Soda Controversy (http://www.popvssoda.com/) for maps and geographical trends.

I agree with you for the most part. In more ways than one, the media feeds us information that isn't all to healthy for us. But it's also up to the individual to educate himself and learn about balance, excercise, and eating smarts.

Obesity is a disease. It can be cured. Why people choose to feed this disease is beyond me.

When I was younger I use to eat the crappiest of junk foods, stuff myself before I went to bed, and I weighed over 220 pounds standing at 5 ft 10. I excercised too, but not nearly enough.

Then it hit me. A stomach problem causing me to cough up a lot of gas. I lost 65 pounds in a year and the only relief I could get was through excercising. It woke me up and ever since then I've learned to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle. I indulge still on junk food but I balance it out with natural, healthy foods too and I do a ton of excercise almost everyday.

Schools need to start educating children at a younger age about good eating habits. Pop machines need to go and be replaced with juice machines. Candy bar machines need to be replaced with fruits. Get rid of those things!!!
