I guess I should have now that I think about it, but just want to make sure. $10SNG. I have AQo raise 3BB, EP, two callers. Flop is 10,J,Q. I bet 4BB, small re-raise, and a fold. I call. Turn is A. I have top two pair, and a gut shot draw. No flush possibility. I check, he puts me all in, and I call. He has K9s. Tough lay down.

Tough lay down.

Rule of thumb.

Anytime someone can have a one-card straight, they have the one-card straight.

The Ace should have saved you in this pot as he now wins with King-anything.

Edit: If your stack was very small you should call this as there's a chance he's bluffing and a chance you are winning if he's not, HOWEVER you want a small stack or a very sophisticated opponent before you call here.

Learn to lay it down, all you have is the top pair on a dangerous flop.

JTQ.

K9, AK, JT, JQ, JT, 910 are hands that you call 3BB with and dominate you.

one or both of those callers probably has a hand like this, and you are already beat.

After you called you hit your A, great, you might think that actully improved you hand, but it only makes it worse. Now anything with a K beats you. THey might have called with just a Kx to try to catch their open-ended straight.

Fold.

yeah the A only hurt you (although in this case, should help you, b/c it's now an easy laydown), and your gutshot draw was for a split...
